The Grand Taste Tour 2.0 : “The Incr-EDIBLE Expedition”

Taste Alberta & 124 Grand Market team up to provide Edmontonians with a first-hand look on where their food comes from with delicious farm to fork lunch prepared by Daniel Costa of Corso 32.

Taste Alberta and The 124 Grand Market are proud to once again present the Grand Taste Tour, an interactive educational experience that will celebrate and promote local food grown and raised in central Alberta. On July 12, 2015 participants will be engaged in guided food tours east of Edmonton city limits.

“Last year’s partnership with Taste Alberta was very well received by farmers, chefs and attendees, so we are very excited to be presenting Grand Taste Tour for a second year with a new region of farms and a new line-up of chefs!” says Kirsta Franke, Proprietor and Director of the 124 Grand Market. “We want to bring consumers together to educate them about the journey their food takes, showing what it means to feed Alberta. The hope of this tour is to better connect urban consumers to their local farming community and profile the quality and great taste of food grown in Alberta and sold at farmers’ markets,” says Kirsta.

This year, the guided tour will involve different farm stops, some include Irvings Farm Fresh Pork, Wolf Willow Honey (honey found at Provisions by Duchess), Tofield Meat Packers and Breveliet Dairy Farm. Daniel Costa, owner and Chef of popular eateries Corso 32 and Bar Bricco along with his team, will be preparing a farm-to-fork late lunch, working with fresh ingredients from the partnering farms and produce from 124 Grand Market. “We have such a diversity of farms in Alberta, from large family businesses to smaller niche operations, we grow a variety of crops, raise livestock, keep honey bees, and grow vegetables” says Carrie Selin, the Taste Alberta Manager. “This tour offers an opportunity to explore the farms, and also our beautiful prairie country-side.”

What can attendees expect from The Grand Taste Tour?

This event is open to everyone–adult and children tickets available, so the whole family can join! Tickets will include a tour of four farms, guided transportation to and from all of the farms, snacks along way and of course, a delicious late lunch at Irvings Farm Fresh to end the event. Brittney Leblanc, Gastropost Community Manager with Postmedia, and several other fun food bloggers will be joining us this year. Bust out the summer hats and sunscreen, a picnic blanket and your sense of adventure!
