124 Grand Market Community Sponsor – Arcadia

ArcadiaWhiteWith a little help from a local friend!

Darren McGeown, the owner of Arcadia, helps to make Market-magic happen!

Throughout the last two years, Darren has been gracious enough to help us with Market operations. He has been paramount in letting us with our storage needs, among many other things he has done for the 124 Grand Market. For that, we are eternally grateful.

Inspired by his travels throughout Europe, Darren opened Arcadia for the first time as a cafe and bar in St. Albert, Alberta, in 2011. After three years in St. Albert, Darren was ready to move onto bigger and better things, so he closed up shop and moved to Edmonton’s iconic 124 Street. Here he opened a new bar of the same name, Arcadia. Purposefully striving to support the local Alberta beer scene, as well as countless local charities, Arcadia has, “tried [their] best to create a space that helps build a strong community.”

“When we aren’t bragging about all the incredible Alberta beers we have on tap or serving our vegetarian pizzas, we are putting on monthly events like trivia, comedy shows, cask nights, live music, and burlesque shows,” said Darren about his unique establishment.

Speaking of events, Arcadia has a bunch planned for the month of May, like:

May 16: Live Comedy 8 pm

May 17: Karaoke 9 pm

May 23: Town Square cask 7 pm

May 24: Karaoke 9 pm

May 30: Bent Stick cask 7 pm

May 31: Karaoke 9 pm

Arcadia’s events are always jam-packed with a joyful glee, so anytime with Arcadia is a good time. After a stop at the Market head on over across the street and down the block to visit Darren and his lovely crew at Arcadia or, if you’re just in the mood for some good local beer and delicious meat-free food, pay a visit any time, Darren would love to have you!

“Arcadia isn’t just a name or an idea, it’s a dream. A dream where two true hearts, minds, and melodies belong. Arcadia is where we all live together in happiness surrounded by fantastic food, beer, music, and conversation. However, it’s most importantly a place where we all come together and help each other out.” — Arcadia
