124 Grand Market

Vendor Profile — Ampersand Eve, Bent Stick, & Shoots Urban Farm

Meet some of our friends!

Our Market features the best local vendors in town. Every Wednesday during Market Season we will be releasing Vendor Profiles as part of our collaboration with our amazing vendors. This week we’re highlighting the highly fashionable Ampersand Eve, the thirst-quenching Bent Stick Brewery, and the earthly Shoots Urban Farm. These three vendors give the market a citified aspect.

Ampersand Eve, run by the wonderful Shawna who is in her second year with the market, brings a highly fashionable aspect to the 124 Grand Market with her female-centric pop-up style boutique. Being a resident of the Westmount neighbourhood, Shawna has been a neighbour to the market much longer than she has been a vendor. Shawna is incredibly kind and a grand fashionista, she really knows her stuff when it comes to the current mode. Her children are a part of the Little Beans program which definitely shows how much Shawna loves the 124 Grand Market. Ampersand Eve’s clothes are fabulously stylish and some would say even trendsetting. Sourcing her clothes through distributors, and being a pop-up shop, Shawna is able to offer high-level clothing at comfortable prices. We’re so happy that Ampersand Eve is with us for another year and we’re looking forward to many more years together.

Bent Stick-03

Bent Stick—run by Scott, Ben, and Patrick, who are in their first year with us—offers the market some incredible nano brews that are sure to quench any of your thirsts. Proudly brewed in Edmonton, Alberta, Bent Stick is pumping out some incredible brews with flavourful aromas. Scott, Ben, and Patrick are sure to make your craft beer experience the best it can be. They really like their beer and they brew 400 litres at a time when going through their rational brew menu. They’re a do-it-yourself brewery started by four friends, so you know they’re brewing their beer with a pure passion. These two guys are definitely some of the coolest cats at the market, they’re friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about their products. They’re sure to get you just the right beer! We’re so happy that they’ve joined us this year and we look forward to growing our relationship together.

Shoots-04

Shoots Urban Farm, run by Jenny who is the epitome of urban farming, is in their first year with the market and we’re so happy to be working together. Having practiced her urban farming skills by growing produce on both her front and back yards, Jenny sure knows how to make use of urban space. Jenny uses sustainable practices to maximize the nutritional value of her products while also minimizing the ecological footprint on the soil, air, and water. Shoots goal is to provide chemical-free, locally grown non-GMO products to the people of Edmonton. On top of helping the environment by growing sustainable products, Shoots is partnered with the Morinville food-bank to provide unsold vegetable from the farmer’s markets they participate in, so they’ve got a wonderfully charitable heart. We’re glad that we get to work with such a cool and mindful vendor and we look forward to experiencing the market together!
