DeRose Bros Meats

DeRose Bros Meats, run by the DeRose family, is nothing but lovingly produced foods. They specialize in Italian sausage but that’s not all, they’re a full-blown butchery as well and they bring to the market a great variety of meats and even, Nonna’s Finest homemade tomato sauce. DeRose Bros even make their own homemade Italian noodles and they’re absolutely delicious. They have the best cuts of meat, and their sausages are to die for. Pick up some sausage, noodles, and some of their delicious home-made tomato sauce and you’re sure to have a comfort meal at home with all the flavours of a 5-star Italian restaurant. The DeRose family has been serving the Edmonton region for over 30 years, so you know that they’re proud locals. They’ve been mixing the local Alberta food culture with their own Italian culture for decades. As for their meats outside of the Italian sphere of things, they’ve got pork, beef, chicken, salmon, you name it. Every one of their cuts of meat is as flavourful as can be. DeRose Bros are with us all market season long, so you’ll always be able to find them at the 124 Grand Market.

Winding Road Cheese-02

Winding Road Artisan Cheese

Winding Road Artisan Cheese, headed by top-cheese Ian Treuer, is one of Alberta’s best handmade cheese producers. Situated in the County of Smoky Lake, Winding Road creates small batches of the best cheese using only organic whole cow milk from Vital Green Farms, meaning they source their ingredients locally. They also use a special vegetable enzyme derived from Cardoon Thistle, to make their cheeses. Their head-cheese, Ian, is a true cheese connoisseur. Originally wanting to be a paleontologist, Ian eventually became interested in cheese after a trip to Europe where he realized he had been eating fake cheese his whole life. Years later, when searching for a hobby, Ian began to make cheese and then, in 2016, Winding Road Artisan Cheese was born. Now you can find his cheese all over the province. They don’t only produce cheese, they also make an incredible Greek Style Yogurt. Some of their products include the award-winning RDB, a version of the classic French Reblochon, a German Butter Cheese, the Highland Hall (pyramid pictured above), and much more! They’ve definitely got the cheese you need in your life. Make sure you come and see them this Sunday at the 124 Grand Market because their attendance is sporadic and limited to Sundays, so come and see them while they’re here!
