Vendor Profiles — Boocha, Colleen Heidecker Chocolates, & Good Morning Honey

Meet some of our friends!

Our Market features the best local vendors in town. Every Wednesday during the market season we will be releasing Vendor Profiles as part of our collaboration with our amazing vendors. This week we’re highlighting the cultured Boocha, the chocolatier Colleen Heidecker, and the bee’s knees, Good Morning Honey. These three vendors bring some of the best locally produced products to the #124grandmarket.

Boocha

Boocha, for those who don’t know, is Kombucha, and kombucha is a cultured brew made with tea and sugar. From Boocha’s website, “Starting with a blend of green, black and yerba mate teas, we brew the perfect cup of sweet tea. After letting it cool to room temperature, we add in our SCOBY, the founder of Boocha. The SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast) metabolises sugars and caffeine, packing Boocha full of probiotics, healthy enzymes, and amino acids that are important to a healthy body.” So Boocha really is good for your best self! Boocha is the first kombucha brand in Edmonton and they’re really proud of that feat. Not only do they brew the best kombucha in town, they’re run by some of the coolest cats around. Headed by three friends, Byron, Brian, and Jen, these three amigos have brought culture to the city of Edmonton and thus have put #YEG on the kombucha map! When you step up to Boocha’s tent, you are immediately greeted with smiles and enthusiasm. The Boocha gang loves to educate the people about their product so know that when you buy their product, you are leaving with valuable information. They also brew their Boocha at the Starlite Room, supporting one of #YEG’s best music venues. This just goes to show that Boocha cares about their city, just like we do at the 124 Grand Market. You can catch them at all the 124 Grand Markets, and even on tap around the city!

Colleen Heidecker Chocolates

Colleen Heidecker, the master #124grandmarket chocolatier, went from being a zoologist and animal behaviour trainer to being a superfoods chef to now being a chocolate master. She trained the only dolphins in Edmonton back in the day, and after her background in zoology took her around the world, she decided to take what she had learned to translate that into dessert making. After a stint in Canmore making her own desserts, she took up a position as the lead dessert maker for Noorish Conscious Eatery in Edmonton. There she became fascinated with chocolate and this soon leads her to become a master chocolatier. Not only does Colleen create delicious chocolates and superfoods, she also hosts classes and events so that you can get educated about her mastery! You can catch Colleen and her chocolates at the next two Sunday markets!
