124 Grand Market

Vendor Profiles — Fruits of Sherbrook, Meat Street Pies, & Yumm

Meet some of our friends!

Our Market features the best local vendors in town. Every Wednesday during the market season we will be releasing Vendor Profiles as part of our collaboration with our amazing vendors. This week we’re highlighting the jam-y Fruits of Sherbrook, the humble Meat Street Pies, and the sweetest snackers in town, Yumm. These three vendors bring some of the best products to the #124grandmarket.

Fruits of Sherbrook

Fruits of Sherbrook, run by a group of wonderful community driven individuals who just want to make their neighbourhoods a better, and fuller, place. Fruits of Sherbrook was started as a project to feed those who are hungry by using the unwanted fruit from some of Edmonton’s neighbourhoods. The not-for-profit began its operations in the Sherbrook neighbourhood, for which it receives its name. The founders noticed that much of the neighbourhoods fruits were unwanted, and were being thrown out! They figured that maybe they could rescue these fruits and use them to better others lives. They offer volunteering opportunities to the community so that others can learn and get hands-on experience, they also give out some of the excess fruits to those in need; to not waste good food! To give back, they create smart snacks for kids and members of the community, they work with snack programs in high needs schools, community programs sponsored by the University of Alberta, and even to their local food bank. We at the 124 Grand Market are so pleased to have such a responsible and community-oriented vendor that cares about making Edmonton a better, and healthier, place. Find them at this Thursday’s grand market.

Meat Street-02

Meat Street Pies

Meat Street Pies, run by the two sweetest people, is one of Edmonton’s best food trucks. Specializing in meat pies and pasties, Meat Street Pies bakes your food to perfection in their truck, for you to enjoy on the spot, or at home. Their meat pies are some of the tastiest in Edmonton and if you’re a big fan like we are, then you’ll love these. Not only that, they also taste like your grandmothers’ pies would. They have that made from scratch, at home, special taste to them. They’re always golden brown and baked to perfection, which is hard to consistently perfect, but Meat Street Pies does, and they do it all in a truck. Their gluten free and veggie options are just as good as the regular options, if not better. Quality is definitely under control in the Meat Street Pies kitchen. Make sure to come and see them at tomorrow’s grand market!
